Tanned skin is common during the summer since it’s when the weather condition is likely to get you tanned whether or not you are sunbathing. There are several ways to get a tan. One can get a tan by using tanning lotions or by doing it the natural way like sunbathing. Sunbathing is the cheapest way to get a tan but it’s also the most dangerous because of the sun’s UV rays.
It won't be advisable to go under the sun if you have plans on getting a tan since it will reduce the amount of collagen in your skin and it can cause freckles. Another thing, sunbathing can cause sunburn which will require you to use lotions to prevent rashes. Sunbathing won't also give you an even tan. Sunbathing only has one advantage - getting the natural and real vitamin D which only the sun can provide. As we all know, we need vitamin D in our body to absorb calcium.
If you don't want to have tan lines, uneven tan or getting sunburned, then use tanning products. Tanning products’ effect can be achieved for a shorter time. There is no definite duration when a tan is expected to last because it depends on a case to case basis. Some products go as long as two weeks while some are only good for a day and can be washed off easily with soap and water. Although the duration is short, you can get a better tan with a tanning product because the intensity and evenness of the tan is dependent on how you apply it.
Another thing is that you won't be exposed to the sun's UV rays. Today, bronzing powders, tanning lotions and airbrush tanning products are just a few of the many tanning products available in the market today. These products will give you the same result as being under the sun for a few hours. No one will be able to tell the difference whether you got your tan from sunbathing or from tanning products.
However, before getting a tan, you need to consider the color of your skin. If you have a darker skin tone, then getting a sun glow is better. Those who have a really pale skin, you will need to use tanning products.
