The four kinds of tiles are fused, smalti, cast and slumped.

Fused - It is a kind of glass tile that is commonly manufactured in large factories. They are manufactured as flat and clear, and are usually cut into tile shape and then fired-up.

Cast - This is a different kind of tile which is made by filling a mold with pieces of glass, the mold with glasses in it is then heated in proper temperature until the glasses meld together forming a glass tile.

Smalti - Smalti tiles are kind of tiles that are small in size. They are usually made from silica, sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, metals and oxides to create color. The process of making this kind of tile involve rolling it out flat, firing it up to specific temperature and then cutting it by hand.

Slumped - It is a very extraordinary kind of tile. Slumped tiles are usually curved in shape and this can be achieved by melting glasses into molds while firing it at a low temperature unlike usual tiles. As soon as the glass cools down, it slowly curves down slowly taking its form.

Making

Before, glass tiles are made from “fresh” products, but with the introduction of new technology this day, glass tiles manufacturers are able to produce glass tiles from recycled products. Making glass tiles or any other products from recycled materials uses less energy. Glass tiles created from recycled materials are usually made from bottles, windshields, glass tables and other glasses.

Hand-made tiles are also very popular and are produced by small manufacturing companies all over the world. What is great about small-sized glass tiles is that they can be used to create mosaics.

Installing glass tiles are different from installing ceramic tiles; this is because of their properties being glass versus clay. Glasses are recognized to be rigid in property, thus making it very durable.
